Character Reworks
What is a rework?
Feeling out a character takes time, and maybe after a couple months of play you realize that the sheet you made all that time ago doesn't accurately reflect them anymore. That's okay! Everyone is able to rework a character sheet to get it where you want it.
A rework is giving a character a mechanical blank slate, creating a brand new sheet as if they were brand new. Because it’s being treated as a brand new sheet, we’ll review it for anything that was missed during the original submission. This means adhering to current character creation rules, correcting mechanical problems, backstory discrepancies, and other potential issues that were originally overlooked.
Rework Requirements
The following are required when reworking a character sheet:
- Waiting at least a year from the character’s original date of approval
- A brand new character sheet
- A changelog explaining listing each item changed and why
- An appended biography
What can I change with a rework?
Technically, the only thing that can't change is the character's name, though we advise not making changes that would be too big to retcon (such as their clan.)
Do I keep my XP and earned Traits?
Any spent experience is refunded, and anything earned in-character is eligible for transfer. Experience earned up until the point of the rework submission can be spent with justification through an appended biography.
What about Lootboxes?
Anything earned from lootboxes can be transferred for free, but dots can’t be reassigned. Meaning, if you gained Athletics 3 from a lootbox, you’ll need to keep it as Athletics 3 on your sheet.
There are two exceptions:
- Dots and flaws from Viscosity can be reassigned
- Earned dots of Generation can be shifted to count towards Elder Generations.
- Example: If a character was originally 9th Generation, and got a dot that boosted them to 8th, a rework could add an additional dot to Generation so that extra dot boosts them down to 7th. You still can’t spend more than 5 starting background dots/freebies on Generation.
How many times can I rework a character?
Every approved character gets one rework.
How can I submit a rework?
Through Caine as you did the original submission, though inform a Storyteller if that it's a rework before submitting.
